Math
Alicia is a math educator who has been teaching and tutoring mathematics for over twenty years, virtually for 10 years. She has taught the entire math curriculum including Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus (AB and BC), AP Statistics. Besides teaching high school math for over 20 years, Alicia has also taught Calculus 1, Calculus, and Statistics at several New England Colleges.
What Alicia enjoys most about tutoring is the ability to work one-on-one with students and get to know them as individuals as well as math students. When working with students, she meets them where they are and helps them fill in their gaps while helping them make progress on their current studies.
Alicia was a high school math teacher at several highly ranked independent schools in New England as well as in the Washington, DC area and taught Algebra 2, Precalculus, AP Calculus and AP Statistics. She had the opportunity to develop AP Statistics programs at several independent schools and mentored other teachers to help implement activity-based lessons into their curriculum.
As an AP Instructor for twenty years, Alicia has taught students the course content along with graphing calculator skills and test taking strategies which have helped students see success on their AP Exams.
As a college instructor, Alicia had the opportunity to work on calculus curriculum projects to make calculus more accessible to students by not only teaching them how to do the operations or calculus, but also to teach them the language of calculus so they could be better problem solvers.
In her free time, she enjoys playing classical piano, baking in the kitchen and spending time outside. Alicia lives in Massachusetts with her husband and Shiba Inu, Tucker.
