Ben Hanson

Reading Specialist, English

Ben Hanson loves teaching and learning.  He's been an educator since 2009, yet his experience with learners goes back much further.  While attending a college in Wisconsin, he worked with students at the YMCA as well as the Boys and Girls Club, and a two month sleep-away summer camp in Maine.  Every opportunity he had to make a positive influence on the previous generation, he took, and this philosophy continues today.

He has a Bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in English, a masters of science in literacy, a reading license, and Ben is a K-12 reading specialist.  He loves all things ELA!  Reading, writing, speaking, and listening are his passions, and they're always evident in his lessons.  Ben finds positive teacher/student relationships to be an integral part of learner success; and emphasizes the use of laugher and humor in his lessons.  He meets students where they're at, making lessons engaging and tailored to the individual.

Ben and his wife, an elementary school teacher, have been married since 2013.  They have two daughters, Teagan and Tenley, who keep them on their toes and teach them something new each day.  The four of them reside in Milwaukee.  They are obvious fans of sports, outdoor activities, and traveling.
