Melissa Rubicam is a mathematics instructor and tutor who lives in Ankeny, Iowa. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics from Drake University and a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education in Mathematics.

Her students may be studying for the high school equivalency test, developing math skills or learning Finite Mathematics. She has been tutoring since 2001 and teaching since 2017 (virtually since 2020).

Previous to entering the world of mathematics education she studied rehabilitation counseling. During her studies, she worked with clients with various disabilities who desired support for educational and employment services.

Melissa’s philosophy is that her students are mathematicians, and she is confident that with customized scaffolding, they can make progress toward their personal mathematical goals.

She loves to travel with her two cats and husband in her glamper. She has most recently traveled to the Island of Guam in the Pacific.
